Former Sudanese PM dies in Corona
Khartoum (INP) – Former Sudanese Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi has died of the global corona virus after being treated at a hospital in the United Arab Emirates for the past three weeks.
According to media reports, a statement has been issued by the family and party sources of 84-year-old Sudanese leader and former prime minister Sadiq al-Mahdi. He was previously admitted to a hospital in the United Arab Emirates.
The military overthrew Sadiq al-Mahdi in 1989 and replaced him with former President Omar al-Bashir. Despite being ousted from power, Sadiq al-Mahdi remained a very influential figure in Sudanese politics.
